EXHIBITION: Regensburg tells the story of the daily life during the reign of Louis the Bavarian 1314 – 1347

Louis the Bavarian – Ludwig der Bayer – was elected king of Germany in 1314, of Italy in 1327 and Holy Roman Emperor in 1328. His election, though, was not unanimous and his reign was marred by a series of nearly unresolved conflicts with the Hapsburgs and other contenders.Louis the Bavarian

The reign of Louis the Bavarian during the first half of the 14th century was marked by a series of crises – deteriorating weather conditions, famines and finally plague.The focus on the exhibition is on the daily life in the period 1300 – 1350. The exhibition will be located in three different venue s in Regensburg, thus presenting an opportunity to experience this medieval city.

The exhibition was planned by a committee of scholars, who took part in a colloquium in 2013 during which the plan for the exhibition was outlined. The conclusions – Ludwig der Bayer – have been published as a pdf. The presentations from the colloquium will later be published as part of the catalogue (as yet – 11.01.2014 – not in press).
